Say It With Pictures

Some say a picture's worth a thousand words. Once again, I can pretty much sum these up in less than 20.

WHO: Lauryn Hill.

MISS TLC SAYS: Lauryn, Bootsy Collins called. He wants his clothes back.

WHO: Usher posing with model.

MISS TLC SAYS: I see you Tameka (Ursh's fiancee). Seriously, the soon-to-be Mrs. Raymond is CLEARLY ready to cut a bitch.

WHO: Prince (on floor).

MISS TLC SAYS: Watch your left hand there Prince. That will only make her want to attack you more. ;)

WHO: Britney Spears.

MISS TLC SAYS: Rhinestones and pearls don't dress up that outfit Brit. In fact, they make it worse.

WHO: Lindsay Lohan.

MISS TLC SAYS: Yes, yes. We already knew you loved coke. ;)

Hot Shoes

These are my faves... well one of my faves (lol). They are BCBG Girls and the detailing is sick. There is leopard print, pony hair, python leather trimming, and metallic accents all on one shoe... how could you go wrong? :)

(Feel free to search for "Hot Shoes" in the search bar at the very top to browse through other past posted shoes.)

After Positive Test, Team Quits Tour de France

By EDWARD WYATT
Published: July 25, 2007

PAU, France, July 24 — Alexander Vinokourov, the Kazakh cyclist who was once considered a favorite to win the Tour de France, tested positive for the presence of foreign blood cells after the first of two recent stage victories and, along with his entire Astana team, withdrew from the Tour on Tuesday, further plunging the sport into a doping crisis that has eroded the legitimacy of its most prestigious event.

Just weeks after Tour officials proclaimed this year’s race to be the start of a drug-free era, Vinokourov tested positive after his victory in the 13th stage Saturday. He was one of the most high-profile riders in the field, which was depleted from the start because many of the world’s top riders were embroiled in their own doping scandals and barred from participating.

At a news conference Tuesday, a visibly angry Christian Prudhomme, the director of the Tour, said the riders “are playing Russian roulette” by continuing to try to sneak doping practices past cycling officials. He called for an overhaul of the system of testing riders, which is overseen not by the Tour but by the International Cycling Union.

“The system doesn’t work,” Prudhomme said, jabbing the table with his index finger. “A system that doesn’t defend the world’s most popular cycling race is a failure, and it can’t carry on.”

The failed test was the third doping issue to arise in this year’s Tour.

Last year, Floyd Landis, the winner of the Tour, was found days later to have failed a drug test near the end of the race. In May, Bjarne Riis, the winner of the 1996 Tour, admitted that he used performance-enhancing drugs that year.

This year, Patrik Sinkewitz, a German rider for the T-Mobile team, which has heavily promoted its internal antidoping regimen, was told during the race that he had failed a drug screening administered by German antidoping officials weeks before the Tour began.

Then, shortly after Michael Rasmussen, the Danish rider for the Rabobank team, moved into the race lead and earned the leader’s yellow jersey in the eighth stage, it was revealed that he had received multiple warnings this year from cycling officials for missing drug tests after not telling antidoping officials of his whereabouts as required. The head of the company that organizes the Tour said again Tuesday that Rasmussen would not have been at the race if Tour officials had known about the missed tests before the start.

MISS TLC SAYS: For real though, if you must take drugs to "enhance" your performance, then you really aren't that good and should leave the tournaments and contests to those who don't need drugs to excel at their sport.

R.I.P. Tammy Faye

After catching a few episodes of Tammy on VH-1's The Surreal Life a few years ago, I instantly found a place in my heart for the overly made-up former televangelist. I never in a million years would've thought such a woman could affect me. But it goes to show you that you never can judge a book by its cover. I learned a lot from those few reality show episodes. Tammy girl had been through a lot, and she weathered the storm. Was everything she said true? Was she really innocent of all charges brought against her throughout the years? Who knows. But either way, her heart was big, and her love for ALL people was evident.

In fact, I was so inspired by her rise against adversity that I actually bought her 2003 book "I Will Survive... And You Will Too!" out of pure curiosity and read it to find out more about the woman who was often criticized for her heavy use of mascara. It was a nice read. True, it was sometimes sappy, and there were times where you rolled your eyes as she started preaching, but if you could look past that, you'd see what a remarkable person she really was. She held no prejudice in her caring heart, and she valued her family and friends immensely.

On July 20, 2007, Tammy lost her battle with inoperable lung cancer. And no matter what you believe, what religion you follow, or what you've heard about Ms. Messner in the past, know this - she lived a beautiful life and positively touched many people during her time here on Earth. R.I.P. Tammy Faye.

Drew Scare Me

From FoxNews...

Genial comic Drew Carey was tapped Monday to replace silver-haired legend Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show "The Price is Right." The deal was set Monday afternoon shortly before a taping of CBS' "Late Show" with David Letterman, where he confirmed it.

WTF?!?!?!?!?

As an avid Price Is Right fan, you KNOW I'm HELLA pissed about this one.

ARE

THEY

SERIOUS?!?!?!

Drew Carey is replacing Bob Barker?!?!?!? I honestly would've taken ANY of the other rumored candidates (Todd Newton, George Hamilton, John O'Hurley, even Rosie O'Donnell) over this tool. Wow. I don't know what they were thinking going in this direction. Drew is so dry, and likes to make controversial slightly-blue cracks. The drunk/high college students may get his brand of humor, but whatever is he going to say to the 85-year old grandmas from Nebraska???

Oh well.

So Sad

From CNN.com...

Lucia Rae Morrison, fifth Minnesota sextuplet born last month, died Sunday

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (AP) -- Only one of six babies born to a Minnesota couple last month was still alive Monday, and he remained in critical condition, hospital officials said.

The fifth sextuplet, Lucia Rae Morrison, died Sunday, Children's Hospitals and Clinics said. Her death leaves one surviving son, Sylas, from the sextuplets born to Ryan and Brianna Morrison on June 10.

Three of the sextuplets died within the first week of their birth. A fourth child died June 23.

The Morrisons released a statement through the hospital thanking family and friends for support. No other information was released.

The babies were born about 4½ months early. They ranged in size from 11 ounces to a little more than a pound.

The Morrisons, both 24, spent more than a year trying to conceive before Brianna Morrison started taking fertility drugs, according to the couple's Web site.

Their sextuplets were born less than a day apart from a set born in Arizona. One of those sextuplets, all considered relatively healthy, headed home from the hospital last week.

The Money Shot

Dlisted has a great summary up (complete with pics) of a recent Forbes Magazine article on how much the big tabloids pay for celeb pics here.

Here's my take...

mags pay big money for pics ---> mag sells mucho copies w/promise of exclusive photos inside ---> mag makes back their money with room to spare ---> mag is now able to pay paparazzi for high-profile shots ---> paparazzi become highly competitive, desperate and rabid while stalking celebs since they are looking for the next big payout

In other words, if we as a society boycotted these rags; and didn't care ONE BIT about pics of Brangelina's kids, or the Longoria/Parker wedding; then they'd eventually lose money from newsstand sales, and ads, and would be resigned to NOT pay for high profile shots. And if the paps weren't getting big money, then they wouldn't stalk and chase down the celebs for the "money shot" in the first place. And as much as they'd like to tell you that they hate the paparazzi, and the fact that they can't go anywhere w/o being followed by flashbulbs, non-celebs eat all that up. The sound of cameras snapping are like food for their starving egos. They need it in order to survive. People like Paris Hilton would be NOTHING without tabloids and paparazzi. People like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie would still be around, but they would be able to only focus on making movies, instead of trying to shield their kids from a nosy public.

And before you try to say that sites like The Wonderful World Of Miss TLC wouldn't be able to survive w/o the non-celebs, you are way wrong. People like Perez Hilton wouldn't have anything to talk about, but I sure would. Granted, I publish a lot of the bullshit myself, but that's just because it's there, and many of my readers ask me to comment about certain things. But in reality, I could do without it if I had to. I'd still have enough to talk about - movie reviews, concert alerts, cd release news, medical minute tidbits, book reviews, sale alerts, and my personal slant on the news of the world.

So there. :)

Naomi's Dunkin' Donuts Ad

It was directed by Zach Braff...I hope he sat in the trailer and spoke to her only through a megaphone...cuz I would hate to see her flip on him for "directing" her to do anything... ;)

Off 2 Miami

FYI - Miss TLC is headed to South Beach in a few hours so I won't be around to post for a few days. I know I just got back after a long hiatus (due to the 4th of July holiday, another weekend away, and craziness at work) so I apologize and appreciate everyone who sticks by me during these busy times. I promise that I'll post a bunch as soon as I get back next week.

Ciao,

~Miss TLC

Boo Hoo 4 The Barkers

TMZ.com is reporting that musician/fashion designer Travis Barker and model/actress/former pageant queen/former "Dancing With The Stars" contestant Shanna Moakler have broken up once again.

The couple experienced the reality show curse (see: Jessica and Nick, Carmen and Dave, Britney and Kevin, etc.) after their MTV show Meet The Barkers went off the air last year. They divorced, but then subsequently reunited. However, now it seems they are over once again since TMZ caught Travis saying that he was about to "go get custody of his kids". And we all know that kinda talk means y'all aren't sleeping in the same bed no mo'. :( I'm sad about this one. I actually like those two crazy kids together.

For the helluva it, I'm posting below a really cool pic that I love of Shanna. It's hella sexy, and I definitely think that Miss TLC is going to have to take some pics like this herself ASAP.

Loves it! So me!

Miss New Jersey Unveils Her Pervy Pics

MISS TLC SAYS: Look, they are not terribly controversial, but they are also not "nothing". And you can tell her awareness of that fact by the way that she was nervously stumbling over her words when describing each pic, and then trying to make up sad excuses for them. Again, they weren't the kinds of pics that would get you thrown in jail, or fired from your job if you worked at an Arby's. However, a pageant queen is supposed to be representative of a certain age group, demographic, and/or group of people - good, clean, pure people. This was exactly the reason I was furious at Donald Trump for giving that tart in his pageant a second chance. She was NOT role model material, and she didn't deserve to wear any crown except one of them paper ones you get at Burger King. These chicks have to learn their lessons and realize that if you want to go down that road and live the life of someone whose life is on display like that of a celebrity or politician, then you need to watch what you do - as innocuous as it may seem to you to have your boyfriend bite on your clothed breast, it's not the kind of behavior you want to show young impressionable girls.

Stop Hatin On Kellys! (A Miss TLC Rant)

Sheesh. I feel like everywhere I turn people are bad-mouthing either Kelly Clarkson and/or Kelly Rowland. Look, ain't neither of these girls hurting for cash. Kelly C. had RIDICULOUS success with her last album, and Kelly R. has had countless smashes as part of Destiny's Child. However, for some strange reason, the media has taken to kicking these two ladies down to the ground just because they recently released new albums. You have every right not to like Kelly R. as a solo artist, or the direction in which Kelly C. decided to go in on her third album. But this is no reason to talk like they bombed or that their sales are disppointing. Just so you know, Kelly Rowland's Ms. Kelly debuted at #6 on this week's sales chart while selling almost 83K copies of her CD. That would've been bad 5 years ago, but album sales have steadily decreased since then, and for now, that's just fine. As for Kelly C., her album's almost gold (meaning 500K copies have been sold) and her My December has only been out for 2 weeks! Rihanna hasn't even sold that much and her album's been out longer AND she's had a ubitiquous single. So seriously, CALM THE EFF DOWN. These two ladies are just trying to live their lives and make some money off entertaining all of y'all.
