I love The Roots, but is it a good thing or a bad thing that they are "the house band" for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon???

A Miss TLC New Product Alert: Hello Kitty MAC
Typically, I detest anything having to do with a combination of Hello Kitty and adult women (I'm talking to you Kimora and Mariah!!!). However, when I found out that MAC cosmetics (one of my FAVE makeup brands) was attempting a Hello Kitty marketing campaign and product line, I was intrigued. After all, I love sexiness, and cats are undoubtedly sexy. Add to that the basic color palette they were using to launch this line (white, black, gray, and hot pink), and I was hooked. I just KNEW the ads would be hot. I was not disappointed:

My favorite item from the Hello Kitty product line has become one of the hottest makeup items in fashion this season. It's sold out pretty much everywhere, but thankfully, I got a couple bottles and I'm still giving y'all the heads up for your own good. Try to find some SOMEWHERE yourself!
The Hello Kitty nail polish is delish, and the gray is by FAR my favorite.
Meow indeed.

TWWOMT Poll Results: Fall/Winter 2008 Album Covers
Here were the results of our latest poll:
Britney Spears came in at #1, just as she embarks on her "Circus" tour, her first major road trip since 2004. I'm happy for the girl. No doubt, she has some serious issues, but it's nice to see her welcomed back into the fame fold. Most people aren't so lucky. Either way, I think the "Circus" theme was smart for her. It's a double entendre, and easily morphed into a stage set, videos, and the like.
Second place went to the "Diva" Beyonce. *Sigh* Don't get me wrong, her album cover was beautiful. I'm just surprised people are seriously feeling that album like they are.
And lastly, the bronze medal went to Kanye West (who juuuuuust inched out Brandy to reach 3rd place). 808s is a concept album, and the image chosen for the cover does not disappoint. However, the album does. (Ba Dum Pum Ching!)
PS - Before you start sending me outraged emails about "hatin on Kanye and Beyonce", know one thing. I loved 2 of Destiny's Child's albums and the 1st three for Kanye. I am not against either one of them and their artistic vision IN ITS ENTIRETY. I just don't think either of their current efforts are worth your time.
MAKE SURE TO VOTE IN THE NEW TWWOMT POLL GOING LIVE TODAY!!!

A Miss TLC Video Alert": Kid Cudi
MISS TLC SAYS: I really like this video. The animation/real life thing isn't new, but the particular cartoon images and colors they use here work so well with the beat and song. He's not trying to be incredibly different and avant garde, he's just trying to be cool and entertaining, while still being him, and it comes across successfully.
A Miss TLC New Video Alert: Kanye West
MISS TLC SAYS: And here is what happens when you take it too far. Kanye started out making cool, edgy videos, and now he's just gone off a cliff. This is what is looks like when you are trying SOOOOOOOO hard to be avant garde and you completely miss the boat. It's obvious that he's just fishing for the "he's so ahead of the game", "he better win an award for that video" comments. Either that, or he's just getting lazy and only making vids for teenage hipsters who are high. I'm sure if Kanye read this post, he'd say that I just "don't get it", and that the video is "above my head". Give me a break. If you want to get REALLY REAL with it, the effects on this one are just one of the original "screensaver patterns" from the most archaic version of Windows Media Player:
Holla.
What Are You Wearing?
While standing on the train platform this morning, I saw a young woman wearing the following choice of footwear:
Now from afar, they might pass for a regular 'ole pair of Pumas. However, they were summer sandal/sneakers with the sides totally cut out.
And the girl was wearing them with socks. White tube socks. In the dead of winter.
*Sigh*
DISCLAIMER: Please know that all of this is said in jest. Faces and heads have been removed from the pictures in order to protect identities (kinda like the black line across the eyes thing you see in many fashion magazines...I'm just taking it a step further and being extra cautious...I am only critiquing the clothes, not the person). If by chance, you are the person in this pic and you want it removed, please contact me and I will do so immediately. :) We have avoided showing the face of the accused fashion violator so as to spare her the embarrassment. We here at The Wonderful World of Miss TLC love to point out fashion violations, and odd happenings in NYC, but we aren't trying to put someone's face on blast. If someone happens to come to the site, and can tell that they know the person just from their back, or their feet, or their clothes, so be it, but I don't show faces here.
*** To view past editions of "What Are You Wearing?" search for it by entering the title in quotes in the white search box at the top of this blog. Feel free to do the same with the name of any of our other recurring features. Believe me, it's worth it. Search is your friend. :) ***

Hot Shoes
OMG. I know. And they are mine. And I still say OMG when I see them. LOL.
These are Oscar de la Rentas that I purchased this past November as an early Christmas present to myself. With the mink bedding for the Swarovski crystal-encrusted ornament on the toe, I am floored by how beautiful they are. The color combo (hunter green swirled with black and purple) is so jewel-toned, it makes them shine even more.
Yum.

While Going Through The Sunday Paper...
...I came across some clips that I just HAD to comment on.
MISS TLC SAYS: What Miley did was D-U-M-B will a capital D (which doesn't surprise me with this chick AT ALL), but a class action lawsuit?!?!?! Are these people serious??? C'mon now. You can't sue someone because they made fun of your race, religion, ethnicity, age or anything else in a stupid photo with their friends that became public. That's her opinion, and this is America.
MISS TLC SAYS: Michael Vick put innocent lives at risk for his own amusement and financial gain. Even though they were animals' lives, and not human beings, it's still dispicable and harmful to others. But Michael Phelps only hurt his own brain cells. On what planet are you from that you think they are comparable (except that they are both athletes)??? I'm gauging from this editorial comment, that "B. Beaver" thinks this was a race issue. Now I'm not immune to the millions of race issues that pop up all over the world every day, but this is NOT one. Not even close.
MISS TLC SAYS: It is a true shame if what "allegedly" happened to Rihanna is indeed true. But "greatest artist of all time"??? Never that. The girl has lucked out with her string of pop radio hits. But she can't sing (unless perpetually flat has become a talent), and she's truthfully nothing more than a poor man's Janet Jackson. Entertaining? Yes. Greatest Artist of All Time? NOOOOOOOO.

The Lonely Island = Andy Samberg from SNL & Crew
MISS TLC SAYS: These guys are really funny. Their album, Incredibad, comes out on February 10, 2009, and I strongly suggest picking it up for entertainment and laughs (just listened to an advance copy myself). Unfortunately, a lot of people won't put together the name with the SNL Digital Shorts, but that's basically what it is. "Dick In A Box", "Jizz In My Pants", "Lazy Sunday", "Natalie's Rap" and others are included from the show, plus a bunch of new tracks. You see, Andy Samberg and his boys Jorma and Akiva formed the group The Lonely Island a long time ago, and started airing their songs/vids on SNL once Andy got on the show and pitched 'em successfully to Lorne. Long story short, their popularity exploded after SNL began them as "An SNL Digital Short".
