Eminem's "3 AM" Video Trailer... Yes, I Said Trailer.

MISS TLC SAYS: Back in the day, videos used to be HOT. They were an artistic expression, as opposed to just a way to show off your bitches and money. Fans were excited about the release of certain videos, and some even made network debuts (yes, I'm talking to you Michael Jackson). It was big. And I loved it. Then somewhere around the mid to late 90s, things changed. Videos sadly morphed into empty, excessive representations of the cookie cutter "look at my mink coat, girls in bikinis I have surrounding me, diamonds I'm rocking, jet I'm flying, and house I'm living in" mentality that took over every genre. Truthfully, 75% of those artists didn't own that house, jewelry, car, jet, OR know that chick that was feeding 'em strawberries. And interestingly enough, the artists who DID really have enough money to fill up a bathtub with, didn't use their videos to showcase that. Artists like Madonna, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, and Janet Jackson instead used comprehensive stories, cool effects, powerful statements, and complicated dance sequences to entertain their viewers in their music videos. Thankfully, it looks like some artists are attempting to stir up buzz (and controversy) with that kind of curious excitement once again. Eminem's new album Relapse will be released on May 19th, and he has already done his typical jokey-make fun of celebrities-make you laugh-silly fun first single video with " We Made You". However his second single, the darker "3 AM", will debut in video form on Cinemax this Saturday, May 2nd. Considering there is a trailer for this music video, and it's being released on a premium cable station (as opposed to a basic one like MTV), I think it's safe to assume that this will fall into the interesting video category, as opposed to the run-of-the-mill one.

Thanks to our friends at The Corner on YoClimax.com for the heads up!

Scott Storch Admits Coke Habit To MTV News

MISS TLC SAYS: To those on the come up - PAY ATTENTION!!! Fame and money is fleeting if you don't have your ish together. Your downfall can come in the form of poor business sense, having a bad team around you and/or an addiction to everything from drugs to houses to sneakers. Stay smart and make sure good people are watching out for you. Stay away from the "yes" men!!!

Mel's Holier Than Thou?

Don't you just love when public figures run their mouth about what is right and what is wrong, and then turn right around and get exposed for the wrong???

[You're right Mel. The Pope isn't conservative enough. YOU are the most honorable Catholic in America. *Cue the laugh track*]

* Rawwwwwwwws!!! Man. Officer Ricky really is making a big (no pun intended) splash in hip-hop with his 3rd release. It's definitely a hot album (despite the fact that the lyrics seem to be somewhat... exaggerated). ;)

* Asher Roth also had a strong debut this week with almost 62K sold. For a complete newcomer, that's definitely a big deal. I know there was a lot of talk last week that SRC Records (Asher's home) didn't ship enough units to meet the demand of his fans in the stores. I have no idea whether or not that is true, but artists have been yammering about that one for a long time (usually when they don't sell as much as they wanted to). Reports then start to "allegedly" flood in from fans on the streets who tell everyone that the album's "sold out" everywhere, which leaves them unable to buy the CD even if they wanted to. Interestingly enough, other SRC artists have tried this one in recent years (including Remy Ma and David Banner). Neither of those albums went on to sell big numbers throughout the span of their release. However, with Asher, I believe he may have a chance to continue this run for a few more weeks. Time will tell. If the demand doesn't continue, then that popular artist defense holds no weight.

* Between Hannah, Twilight, Now 30, and Taylor Swift, this chart's a teen dream. LOL. Hey - whoever's buying music is good people with me. I mean, the #3 spot is held by someone who only sold in the 5 digits! Before long, you'll only have to sell 568 albums to hit the top 10. ;)

* Reports surfaced this week that Pink was perturbed that Britney's tour set and overall "circus" theme followed in the realm of her "funhouse" concerts. First off, the idea of circus-like revelry is nothing new. Other big pop artists (such as Madonna and Janet Jackson) have been performing in that sort of setup for years. It's not as if Pink invented the concept. Also, I would like to mention the fact that both of these ladies' concert tours are named after their current albums (the aforementioned "Circus" and "Funhouse"), and Britney's made more sense at the time. Not that your album title has to reflect what you are currently going through in your life, BUT, Britney's new project was definitely a tongue-in-chick reference to the "media circus" that is her life. However, now that I look at the charts, I see that Pink's was released 5 weeks earlier, and has sold around 500K less (which is a lot). Pink has sold around a million units to date of "Funhouse" and Britney has sold 1.5 million units of "Circus".

* Sales actually increased this week overall. It's not by much. And we're still not selling anywhere close to what we used to sell 5 years ago. However, it's still a good thing no matter what what you look at it. :)

What I Heard On The Train Today...

Scene: two 5-ish female friends having a conversation about Swine Flu during this morning's commute...

FIRST WOMAN: Didn’t we have this before a long time ago with a major swine flu warning?

SECOND WOMAN: Yes, I’ll tell you exactly because I was in North Carolina when it broke, and that was where it originated at that time. It was in the 1980s…..

(MISS TLC SAYS TO HERSELF: No it wasn’t, it was 1976 to be exact.)

SECOND WOMAN:…and they immunized all the soldiers at Ft. Bragg where the flu was first found to be infecting soldiers…

FIRST WOMAN:And then tons of people started dying, from the immunization, right?

(MISS TLC SAYS TO HERSELF: Nope. Not unless you consider 3 senior citizens out of 40 million people who received the shot, “tons”. There was never any proof that those deaths were even from the shot, but widespread panic prevailed anyway. Also, there were several reports at the time of people coming down with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a paralyzing nerve disease, as a side-effect of the shot. This then led to much controversy about the panicked response to the original flu bug, since it never became the pandemic the press and government warned everyone about at the time.)

FIRST WOMAN:But it has nothing to do with pigs, so why do they even call it swine flu?

(MISS TLC SAYS TO HERSELF: Umm… yes it does originate with pigs.)

SECOND WOMAN: Well it has to do with pig farms really.

(MISS TLC SAYS TO HERSELF: Same thing.)

Ugh. At this rate, between the misinformation and hysteria, it makes me wonder if we're going to start seeing commercials like these from the 70s on our television screens again soon...

And then later on… the two 50-ish females moved on to discussing the MTA fare hikes...

FIRST WOMAN:It’s crazy that the MTA is going to increase the fare, but I mean, of course they’re not making as much money as they normally do, since everyone’s unemployed so the trains are empty.

(MISS TLC SAYS TO HERSELF: Umm… who has been on empty trains in NYC as of late? Cuz I know that I haven’t seen any.)

Google Doodles Morse Code

I love the Google Doodles. I think they are creative and cool and cause many people to research events, topics, and people they may not have otherwise researched.

Today's was by far one of my all-time faves. From added flowers, colors, artists' renderings, and more; the doodles generally represent the style and feel of whatever or whomever they are honoring. Today's Doodle represented Samuel Morse, the creator of Morse Code. Today is his birthday. Check out the doodle below:

Looking for Gossip?

Well here you are my lovelies. Following you will find four (count 'em, four!) clips from next week's "Gossip Girl", airing in the U.S. on 4/17/09. Some are poorer quality than others, but they're all viewable. Enjoy.

MISS TLC SAYS: Looks good. Me lovey Blair & Chuck together so they need to get that moving again for me pronto. :)

If You're Looking For Eminem's "3 AM" .....

..... you can hear it here.

MISS TLC SAYS: He proved me right. As I told EVERYONE, Em has once again stayed true to his winning formula. He dropped a mainstream/pop-oriented/funny/joke-voice/make-fun-of-celebrities/silly-sounding single first ("We Made You") and then followed it up with something crazy, dark, violent, and full of lyrical wordplay. And just in case you're a fan, and worried that the "Relapse" album will be more like "We Made You" and not like "3 AM", know this. Em told Angela Yee on Shade 45 this morning that the album is dark and "not like the first single at all".

My Manolos Were Knocked Off (By Bebe)!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I just saw the following shoe in Bebe:

It's just like my Manolo Blahnik - "Koyu"s!!!

Now, I'm not naive, and I understand that most retailers "copy the designer stuff that's on the shelves every season, but I never saw such a blatant copy of the main part of the Manolo design of this shoe in my days as a shoe enthusiast (since Blahnik's pieces are generally pretty unique and particular).

Anyway, the Manolo version was like $865 or something (and I'm pretty sure it's not on shelves anymore), and the Bebe shoe is like $130 and comes in a few different colors (and is on shelves now). :)

A Miss TLC Cover Art Alert: Eminem's "Relapse"

MISS TLC SAYS: I like it...a lot. It grabs the consumer's attention and it's cohesive with the theme of the album title, while still staying creative. However, the negative is that it seems to promote the already out-of-control popularity of painkillers and pill popping that exists within Em's target demographic (teenage boys). But that's what Em's been about all along, so no one can say they're surprised or disappointed by him really.

18. KINGS OF LEON "ONLY BY THE NIGHT" 19,802 units sold

19. KELLY CLARKSON "ALL I EVER WANTED" 19,402 units sold

20. THE DREAM "LOVE VS. MONEY" 19,222 units sold

* Ugh Hannah.

* Wow, Day 26 had it in them (1) to really release another album, and (2) to debut at #2 with it? I must say, I am surprised.

* Kelly Clarkson's gone Gold (500K units sold) in only 6 weeks. Usually for Kelly, that would be a failure, but in this marketplace, it's not half bad. As long as they can follow up with another hot single (or two), she should be good to go Platinum with this one.

* It looks like Taylor Swift might finally fall out of that top 10 next week. I'm sure she's not disappointed considering she's been there FOR SIX MONTHS! Go 'head girl.

* The rest of this chart is such a combo of hodgepodge country, soundtracks, compilations, and crap that I'm bothered. LOL.

Ciara Knows Style

Not only is Ciara's new video with Justin Timberlake, "Love Sex Magic", the hottest clip out, but the artwork for her new album, "Fantasy Ride" is also hot as well. And what makes it soooooooo hot you might ask? Well it's the jewelry of course!!! You know Miss TLC is an accessories queen (well after her obsession with shoes, which come first and foremost always and forever), and so I can ALWAYS spot the nicest pieces around (and report on them to my readers).

One of the most creative up-and-coming designers around, Melody Ehsani (the famous artist behind other pieces worn by Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Keri Hilson, and others) made a bunch of Ciara's 'cessories in the pics (including the adorable "Pow" earrings).

Check out Melody's blog here.

MISS TLC SAYS: What's with the obsession with spontaneous group performances of pop hits?

For Once, I Actually Agree With Trump!

MISS TLC SAYS: Usually Donald Trump is known for a lot of pointless namecalling and pontificating. However, here, I actually agree with the man. When I read about this guy going after Trump for firing Khloe only because he has a vodka company himself (WTF?), I was pretty livid and wanted to call him up myself to explain the difference to him. Essentially this idiot is saying just because you sell alcohol, you have to accept those who drink and drive. NOOOOOOO. That is NEVER the case. And actually, if that's really how the Georgi man feels, he should find another business to run. Drinking and driving is NEVER ok. Drinking IS... if you are 21 and drink responsibly. Donald has EVERY right to publicly denounce drinking and driving AND fire an employee who he finds out after the fact has a DUI on their record. I saw the scene where Donald fired Khloe and he explained it to her thoroughly that he has friends and family who have personally been affected by drunken drivers. It's a cause he believes in and I commend him for that.

Random Question

What's up with all the purposely disturbing rapper covers on magazines as of late?

Politics As Usual

Seriously, politics is the bane of all of our existences. Everyone just argues back and forth and talks over one another and exaggerates and lies and annoys me. Neither side is really right, and neither side is really wrong. It's just a waste of time. There is no golden child, and there is no way to predict the future, so the talking heads just all need to SHUT UP.

(Sheesh Miss TLC, tell us how you REALLY feel!)

Ha.

However, the only thing more frustrating than politics itself is political reporting. EXCEPT of course for when they drop slang terms for non-mainstream sexual acts into their cable news pieces.

I give you "teabagging":

And "fisting":

We need more entertainment like THIS on the news. :)

Check This Site Out

While the rest of the world was busy checking out thisiswhyyourefat.com .....

We here at The Wonderful World of Miss TLC were sadly perusing whythefuckdoyouhaveakid.com instead.

Holy lawd.

It's like passing a train wreck (you don't want to look, but you have to).

Seriously.

PLEASE people, raise your children well, so this doesn't happen in YOUR town.

This site taught me 3 main things:

1 - Trash comes in all shapes, sizes, ages, and colors.

2 - These are scarily a lot of the same people who are constantly complaining about the government and the "problems with America".

3 - Adoption should be mandatory in some situations.

Spider-Man Flying To Broadway In 2010!

Thanks to one of our loyal readers, we've gotten a "behind the scenes" take on an upcoming Broadway play....... Spider-Man.

Yep, I said it. SPIDER-MAN.

Not convinced that will be a hit?

What if I told you that Bono & The Edge are doing the music?

Thought so.

Opening for previews next January (1/16/10 to be exact), the show will officially open on February 18, 2010, and it's already destined for greatness. An insider who is working on the production has told TWWOMT that it's the biggest production on Broadway ever, and that the work so far has been incredibly exciting.

For more details, here's a writeup about it in Playbill:

A Tea You HAVE To Try

For the tea lovers out there, I have a recommendation that you're SURE to love. Harney and Sons is one of the premiere fine tea companies that make a variety of different kinds of tea, different herbal blends, and different packaging choices. Their site is a plethora of leafy knowledge.

While I was away last month visiting family on a nice, long, relaxing weekend, my lovely Aunt (& host) gave me some Harney and Sons "Hot Cinnamon Spice" in a mug and I was instantly hooked. I am a huge cinnamon fan to begin with, but the additional flavorings and herbs that are added to this tea make it naturally flavorful and sweet without any additives (like sugar, honey, and/or milk). This tea plain is heaven. Therefore, I thought I should pass this information on to my readers.

You can check out this particular tea here, and then feel free to browse around the whole Harney.com website for more delectable choices.

* Rascall Flatts sure is unstoppable. As you can see from the pics I posted not too long ago (which were sent in by a loyal reader who attended their last show at MSG), they put on quite a spectacle. They have huge crowds, and very big sales, and I ain't mad at 'em.

* Now Hannah Montana? I AM mad at her. ;)

* Jada's album is hot so I'm happy that he debuted in the top 3. Besides him, there's only Keri Hilson, Flo Rida (yuck), and UGK representing for hip-hop/R&B so we need to get some more of that on the chart. What happened?

* Taylor Swift has now sold over 3 million copies of her latest album. In a recession. Her last album has now sold over 4 million copies. Can we please get a round of applause for this lil lady?

* People really love those Twlight vampires, don't they? ;)

Kid Cudi Has A Home

It has been widely rumored for weeks, but only officially confirmed this morning...

...Kid Cudi has indeed signed to Universal Motown Records.

His debut album, Man on the Moon: The Guardian is due out in late summer '09.

Label head Sylvia Rhone and Cudi's team were quoted in the press release issued today:

“Kid Cudi is at the vanguard of a game-changing new generation of artists,” said Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone.
“Partnering Kid Cudi with Universal Motown and Sylvia Rhone couldn't be a more natural fit,” commented Emile and Plain Pat. “They were the first major company to take notice of our movement and truly grasp our vision. We are thrilled to extend and deepen our relationship. It's a great feeling to watch the world discover the talent we saw in Cudi over these past years.”

The world has been waiting for Cudi to officially land somewhere, and now he has. I'm anxious to see what his project sounds like when ready for release.

Christian (Louboutin) Can Do Anything!

At first I didn't think I'd like Christian Louboutin's espadrille wedges for the spring. However, once I saw them in person at Bergdorf's and tried a pair on, I was won over instantly! They preserve the sexy (as only Christian can), and the white popped so crisply, I could instantly see myself prancing around in them in Manhattan this summer with flimsy sundresses on. :)

You can purchase them here.

"Gossip Girl" Returns Next Week!

Until then... here are two separate clips (poor quality) from the April 20th episode, Seder Anything.

Also (cuz you know Miss TLC always has ALL the "Gossip Girl" goods), here are a couple adorable promotional posters advertising future episodes.

PS - "The Goodbye Gossip Girl" is indeed the season finale episode, but it's not on April 27th. That is when the one above, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", airs. The season finale airs May 18th.

And for some bulletpointed spoilers on upcoming episodes (if interested), select everything from the end of this sentence to the bottom of this post:

  • Georgina Sparks returns on April 27th, and stays on for 4 episodes (running through the season finale).

  • Blair does in fact end up attending NYU.

  • Rufus & Lily's love child pops up on the May 4th episode.

    I Heart Sacha

MISS TLC SAYS: I'm sad he got rid of his signature faux-hawk hairstyle, but I heard that they had no choice but to switch up his look a lil after he received so much press post-Borat's success.
