Who's That Girl?

MISS TLC SAYS: It's Mariah Carey on the set on her new video "Obsessed". Hmm... I'm guessing the character in the hoodie is supposed to represent Eminem in some ways??? Maybe...

Jackson Worth

MISS TLC SAYS: Who knows if this is true but I'm hoping for the best here. They say Jackson was dead broke when he passed away, but with his share of the Beatles catalog, his "antiques and collectibles", and the lightning sales of his own vast catalog since last Thursday, I'd think that was impossible. Then again, he was quite a spendthrift so you never know. We shall see what happens as this drama continues to unfold...

A Miss TLC New Video Alert: Cobra Starship featuring Leighton Meester - "Good Girls Gone Bad"

MISS TLC SAYS: I think this takes Leighton's well-known character Blair Waldorf to the next level. She still uses some of Blair's cute glances and looks as a singer, but you can tell that Leighton is more fun, carefree, and loves to dance (Blair seems a little too uptight for all of that). Then again, we do know that Leighton can be a bit of an exhibitionist as well (*cough* alleged sex tape *cough*), so I'm not surprised. Very good look for her though!

A MILLION Dollar Score On "Antiques Roadshow"

Excerpted from a Reuters piece on Yahoo.....

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A woman who inherited some Chinese carved jade from her father has scored the first $1 million (601,557 pounds) appraisal from experts on the U.S. television program "Antiques Roadshow," the producers said on Monday.

In a record for the show, four pieces of Chinese carved jade and celadon from the Chien Lung Dynasty (1736-1795), including a large bowl crafted for the Emperor, were given a conservative auction estimate of up to $1.07 million.

MISS TLC SAYS: Wow. I would love to inherit a random item worth a million dollars. This is a really interesting show if you ever get the chance to watch it.

Summing Up The BET Awards In One Sentence

"Beyonce was a hot mess. Singing 'Ave Maria' in a damn bathing suit." - Miss Kiki Beverly (a very funny, always on point, good friend of mine)

(PS - I really wish the first live televised MJ tributes were done in another venue on another stage by other people. Jamie was corny, Ciara was terrible, and Lil Wayne yelling "Rest In Peace Michael Jackson!" right after singing "I wish I could fu*k every girl in the world..." onstage with his daughter standing near him was totally uncalled for and tacky with a capital T.)

A Miss TLC New Video Alert: Jay-Z - "Death of Autotune"

MISS TLC SAYS: People sure lovvvvvvvvve working that Italian element, don't they? ;)

A Miss TLC Video Alert: "Death of Autotune" Video Trailer

MISS TLC SAYS: I like how he blows up the Cristal bottles to emphasize the fact that he DOES have the power to block a business' flow (cuz he surrrrre did it to them). Autotune IS a business too. Will he have the power to stop it? We shall see.

Colbert SHOCKED @ Sanford!

MISS TLC SAYS: But really though. NO ONE HUMAN BEING is the moral authority on ANYTHING. Honestly. We are all imperfect and temptation is out there at every turn. I'm not saying cheating is right, I'm just saying cheating is reality. I am constantly updated on a daily basis about friends, family members, and co-workers who are breaking up and/or divorcing over the latest admissions of indiscretions and adultery. It's rampant. And so why does anyone believe that governors, senators, and even presidents are immune to this pandemic??? It's downright silly to believe that. Do I believe Sanford should step down? Yes. Why then? Well it's simple: #1. Whenever a person admits infidelity that went on for longer than one "accidental rendezvous", they are downright advertising their ability to lie professionally and showcase their acting skills right under your nose. Therefore, it's kinda hard to take ANYTHING they say as truth after that point (which makes you also doubt everything they try to push in their political agenda). #2. When part of that same political agenda is about pushing "moral legitimacy", then your whole platform becomes a joke after such an admission. This was the problem with Spitzer. He was BY FAR a much better governor than Paterson but one of his major initiatives was to combat prostitution rings. Well you can't do that AND use them at the same time and expect people to respect you Spitzy. That's one of the main issues with Sanford. He tried his damndest to prove that Clinton should be impeached during the Lewinsky scandal because "he lied in his oath to his wife and that should be taken seriously" and more importantly because of "the need for moral legitimacy" in our government. Well he absolutely violated both of those clauses now himself. But even more damaging than that, is that he was MIA for days and had his staff lie about it. Chasing down your mistress for a sexual encounter while the country suffers and supposedly needs you shows EXTREMELY poor judgement as a person and as a politician. I now believe that him turning down that stimulus money was a way to get his fellow South Carolinians to see how conservative he was, but in the end, he wasn't. So really the most important lesson to learn here can be summed up in a new Miss TLC adage: "show me a man who believes politicians are honest, and I'll show you a man who's an idiot"

Who's That Girl???

Why it's Miss TLC spotted in Bergdorf's trying on the fuschia ruched Christian Louboutins with the 5 inch heel!!! :)

(Should she get 'em?)

(PSST: Bergdorf's sale going on right now.)

Bus Stop Fashion Isn't As Cool As You Would Think

What I saw at the bus stop this morning can only be described as wacky wears. First up, this hoodie.....

.....at 7:30am, I'm not sure sequins are appropriate (unless of course they are on a minidress and they are paired with Manolos and yesterday's makeup - wink, wink).

I mean, look how JAZZY it is!

Ha.

Then when I walked away in order to avoid being blinded by the bling, I witnessed THIS disturbing photo on an ad:

I was utterly confused. Am I hanging upside down somehow??? How is it that this woman has on eyeliner (VERY THICK black eyeliner I might add) on only her bottom lid???

Here's her whole face:

That's really an unacceptable use of eye makeup if I ever saw one. Sheesh.

Say It With Pictures

Some say a picture's worth a thousand words. Once again, I can pretty much sum these up in less than 20.

WHO: miniature media mogul Ashley Olsen at "The Hangover" premiere.

MISS TLC SAYS: So THAT'S what she looks like when she smiles? Hmm. I can see why she doesn't do it often.

WHO: singer/actress/"American Idol" alum Jennifer Hudson and her former "I Love NY" reality show contestant fiance in a restaurant parking lot... flossing their teeth.

MISS TLC SAYS: Dental hygiene's important, but not in public. And you KNOW photographers follow you. T-A-C-K-Y!

WHO: singer/attention-fiend Lady Gaga on the cover of Rolling Stone.

MISS TLC SAYS: Why is Rif Raf on the cover of Rolling Stone? Is this a Rocky Horror anniversary issue or something?

WHO: HBO actors Jamie-Lyn Sigler and Jerry Ferrara at "The Hangover" premiere.

MISS TLC SAYS: Wow! They're still together??? Good for Turtle.

WHO: "Gossip Girl" starlet/upcoming singer Leighton Meester at The MTV Movie Awards.

MISS TLC SAYS: I love you girl, but no. That dress reveals way too much and just looks trashy. What would Chuck say?

WHO: famously hot mess/former singer Amy Winehouse on a beach in St. Lucia.

MISS TLC SAYS: WHO in the heck would let their child anywhere near Amy, much less frolicking in the sand with her???

WHO: R&B/rap phenom Drake in his former life (as a Canadian TV star playing Jimmy on "Degrassi").

MISS TLC SAYS: Wow. That look ain't the "best he ever had" for damn sure. ;)

* No surprise that The Jonas Brothers came in at #1 this week. Their career has been steadily on the rise since Columbia Records dropped them after lackluster sales of their debut release. Aw. Poor Columbia Records. ;)

* This week's top 10 albums truly illustrate "pop music" as a whole in the U.S.

* And in follow-up "platinum watch" news, Jamie Foxx is still steadily 10K units a week (so he's now only 23K away from selling a million units), and U2 has now entered the million-unit race as well since they are only 66K units away from that honor (after 16 weeks on the chart).

* Darius Rucker's still recording huh? What are The Blowfish up to?

* We jumped by 170K units this week in total sales (in comparison to last week). Very nice. Thanks Jonas Brothers! :)

Listen to Mariah Carey's New Single "Obsessed" Here!!!

MISS TLC SAYS: Hmmm... methinks this one's aimed at Eminem. You see, he dissed Mimi on his latest album (again), and her current mooch (sorry, hubby) Nick Cannon had a fit... well online at least. He claimed he was gonna come back to the rap game and go at Em hard. (*crickets chirping*) So yeah, a-n-y-w-a-y, now his wifey drops THIS as her lead single from her new LP??? Seems suspect to me. She even sings the line "it must be the weed... it must be the E", and we all know Em's been known to advertise his drug use in the past. It's all alleged, but seems obvious to me. Then again, she'll probably never admit it... just like she'll never admit she actually hooked up with Em... OH!!!!!! (Hahaha - just joking lambs. No one will ever really know if these two hooked up 'cept for Marshall and Meems themselves.)

NY-ers Angry??? It Can't Be!!! (*wink, wink*)

NYC was voted the home base of the country's angriest drivers in a new survey released this week (read about it here). I know, what a shock. But seriously, watch yourself in those streets. Drivers are crazy, and it's not worth your life to get somewhere 20 minutes earlier or beat that cab driver who keeps cutting you off.

20. TEENA MARIE "CONGO SQUARE" 17,483 units sold

* STRONG debut for The Black Eyed Peas. Not only is the music industry itself different since '05 (when they released their last group album), but the economy in general is in so much poorer of a place. And yet they STILL were able to sell more in their first week this time around!!! That's BIG. (Their last album debuted with 291,164 units sold for those who are interested.)

* DMB had a respectable 2nd week. They are have now officially gone gold.

* Em officially went platinum (as I told you he would). He's still selling like gangbusters with this release.

* And in follow-up "platinum watch" news, Lady Gaga officially crossed the million units mark this week, and Jamie Foxx got 10K closer (so now he's only 33K units away from a million sold.

* In "this week's debuts" news, Mos Def did pretty well for himself, scoring a Top 10 spot (as did Pleasure P - ugh). Aventura debuted even better in 5th place, and old school R&B/soul mama Teena Marie released a new album which rounded out the Top 20.

* Unfortunately, J Dilla's posthumous release fell out of the entire Top 200 (the cutoff on any major chart, you need to sell about 2600 units to land within this range), after only selling 5K last week to debut at #86. A darn shame.

* We only decreased in sales by 6K units this week (in comparison to last week). Not too bad. You see, people do still buy albums after all (as long as they are what the people want I guess). :)

20. VARIOUS "NOW 30" 19,907 units sold

* NICE debut for The Dave Matthews Band! They've been around for a very long time, and to still pull in big numbers like that is great for them. The cool thing about DMB is that they've consistently stayed big in college crowds and touring circles, even as those fans leave college and newer fans grow up and enter college. Most of my friends who loved them when they started still love them now, and yet I have younger friends and cousins who are also just getting into them. It's a winning formula (which I think stems from the fact that they are simply a bunch of talented nice guys who love making music and touring).

* Wait, 311 has a new album out too (and they debuted at #3)??? So Dave Matthews Band, 311, AND Green Day are all in the top 5?!?!?!? What is this, 1994?

* Em is officially 39K copies away from 1 million units sold. (I say "officially" because record labels, marketing folx, and promoters generally say someone's hit platinum status once that many albums are shipped to stores and/or are projected to sell that much 1 or 2 weeks down the line.) However, if you know Miss TLC, you know she hates exaggerations, generalizations, and all-around pointless publicizing and pontificating; so I'm giving you the actual number of albums sold thus far. That being said, he still steadily sold in the 6 digits range in his third week out, so barring any bizarre unforseen circumstances (like all of his CDs mysteriously disappear from stores, or his record company decides not to release anymore), then he'll OFFICIALLY go platinum with "Relapse" next week.

* And in other "platinum watch" news, Lady Gaga is officially 6K units away from a million sold (after 32 weeks on the chart) and Jamie Foxx is officially 43K units away from a million sold (after 25 weeks on the chart). So they'll probably both hit that acheivement soon.

* In "pop princess sales" news, Beyonce has so far sold 2.2 million copies in 29 weeks, Britney Spears has so far sold 1.5 million copies in 27 weeks, and Pink has so far sold 1.1 million copies in 32 weeks.

* And in "hip-hop buzz" news, the posthumous album collection of unreleased beats and tracks by prolific producer J Dilla (mixed and arranged by Pete Rock) was released last week by Executive Producer "Ma Dukes" Yancey (Dilla's Mom) and debuted this week at #96 with 5K sold.

* Woo Hoo! There was a 500K increase in album sales this week (mainly attributed to the DMB sales), but still, it's positive! :)

In "Who Cares" Celeb News.....

From UsMagazine.com:

MISS TLC SAYS: Nothing. Nothing at all. I refuse to comment on these nitwits.

From MSN:

MISS TLC SAYS: Methinks slighted Gilles fans may have something to do with this. Ha.

From People.com:

MISS TLC SAYS: Jon talks? No one cares. Ugh. Honestly people, stop advertising to the world that you don't need to do A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G in America but have a reality show and you're suddenly famous and all up in the press daily. This kind of pointless promotion and pandering is what allows pointless self-serving sites like Twitter to exist. So sad. [RETWEET THAT BIT*HES!] Ha.

(Disclaimer: Yes, Miss TLC DOES have a Twitter page. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, and I DO have an actual brand to promote. Miss TLC also has a real job, and several other side-jobs, and doesn't use social networking sites to chat and update her status all day to make it look like she has something going on when she really does nothing but chat and update her status all day. LOL.)

* Eminem had a very strong second week. Those sales added to last week's bring him in shooting distance of platinum (which he'll reach within a month of release - mark my words). He's currently at 820K sold.

* Marilyn Manson is still recording? Hmm. I haven't heard about him in so long. His last release was 2 years ago and he sold double than what he sold now in his first week sales for that one. And thaaaaaaat's all I have to say about that.

* The Hannah Montana Movie Soundtrack has now sold over a million units. *Sigh*

* And in other sales new, Green Day is a small hop away from Gold status (Gold status is 500K sold and they are currently at 450K). They'll hit that acheivement next week.

* Total album sales dropped by almost as much as they increased last week considering Eminem's sales dropped 65% (which is normal in the second week out) and he was basically carrying the chart. :)

A Miss TLC Note of Nutrition: Cheesecake / Portion Control Edition

Look good?

...thought so. Here's the thing, these "mini-cheesecakes" are the PERFECT size for anyone looking to treat themselves instead of wolfing down a 2,000 calorie piece of cake.

The above pics were taken in Whole Foods Market, but I know there are other places as well that sell perfectly-portioned "bites" of dessert. Believe me, eat it slowly, and you will get the same sense of satisfaction as you would with a big hunking piece of fat and calories.

I commend places like Whole Foods for offering these tastes. (And don't get on me about the prices @ WFM. $1.99 for just a few bites of dessert is worth it ESPECIALLY because you won't feel bloated and become obese after ingesting it.) :)
